Before applying, verify whether your business already has a DUNS Number. You can do this by visiting the Dun & Bradstreet website and using their DUNS Number lookup tool. If your business is listed, you won’t need to apply for a new number.

Step 2: Gather Necessary Information

To apply for a DUNS Number, ensure you have the following details about your business:

1. Legal business name.
2. Physical address (no P.O. boxes).
3. Phone number.
4. Name of the business owner or key executive.

Step 3: Apply for a DUNS Number

For many, the next step they take is heading to D&B Website and using their DUNS Number application page to request a DUNS number for their business but in many cases, this does not work as many business especially those based in Nigeria.

Instead of the default practice that are available online, use these below:

First, create your Apple ID

NOTE: From my past experience, I strongly recommend you use an Safari browsers on any Apple devices if you have one.

1. Go to appleid.apple.com to create an Apple ID
2. Click ‘Create Your Apple ID’: Fill in your details, including your email and password.
3. Verify Your Email Address: Apple will send a code to the email you provided. Enter this code to complete the setup.
4. Complete the Application Form: Provide accurate information about your business. Double-check all entries to avoid delays.
5. Submit the Application: Submit the form and note the reference number provided.

Secondly, open Apple developer portal

1. Goto developer.apple.com
2. Login with the account details you created in the first step
3. Once login is successfully, you will be redirected to developer.apple.com/account
4. As seen in the image below, click on “Enroll Today“

5. After clicking on “Enroll Today”, in the next screen, select “Company / Organization” as seen in the image below

6. After selecting “Company / Organization” in the previous step, scroll down to the button on the page and click on the “Check now” link. This link will lead you to developer.apple.com/enroll/duns-lookup/#!/search

7. Clicking developer.apple.com/enroll/duns-lookup/#!/search brings you to the page shown in the image below. Fill the details with the acccurate details about your business and click on the “Continue” button at the bottom of the page, which leads you to a new page to confirm your entries.

Once confirmed, go ahead to submit the details and your request for DUNS has just being submitted. And you should get a feedback from Dun & Bradstreet team within 2 weeks.

Step 4: Wait for Your DUNS Number

Typically, it takes 5-30 business days to receive your DUNS Number, depending on your location and the completeness of your application. If you need it urgently, D&B offers an expedited service for a fee.
